Hatha Yoga

The practice of Hatha yoga focuses on the implementation of asanas (yoga postures) while being aware of breathing at all times.  The rhythm of motion and breath allows the instructor to place special emphasis on construction and alignment technique, correcting each posture according to the principles of biomechanics.  The practice also includes elements of great Yoga Master B.K.S. Iyengar.

While in a mode of preparation for more intense positions, we include exercises that unblock and release, while stretching global joints and working on the introduction of Pranayama (breath).

The practitioner develops a greater awareness and corporal consciousness, rediscovering his own body in motion while gaining in confidence and "ability to direct attention (mind) to something without any break" (Yoga Sutras, Patanjali).





Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa means breath synchronized movement.  Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a dynamic, intense and invigorating Hatha Yoga. It emphasizes the practice of evolutionary sequences of asanas (postures), correct alignment and coordinated with fluid and sustained breathing.

Some possible variations of Vinyasa Yoga are: Power Vinyasa Yoga, Vinyasa Slow Yoga, and Vinyasa Fit Yoga.  From discipline and perseverance, your practice can develop strength, flexibility, balance, vitality, physical and mental endurance.  In the synchronization of movement, breathing, drishtis, (look) mudras, (gestures) and bandhas; Vinyasa Flow Yoga transforms into a meaningful meditation of movement.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is a system of Hatha Yoga created by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Yoga gurú from India, who continues the lineage of Krishnamacharya.

"The method for purifying and strengthening the body is called asana" (Jois 2002 22). To perform asana correctly in Ashtanga yoga, one must incorporate the use of vinyasa and tristhana.

The purpose of vinyasa is for internal cleansing" ("Ashtanga Yoga"). Synchronizing breathing and movement in the sequences of asanas produces an intense internal heat and sweat. Improved blood circulation, relieves joint pain and removes toxins and disease from the internal organs. Through the use of vinyasa, the body becomes healthy, light and strong and the mind becomes calm ("Ashtanga Yoga").

Tristhana refers to the union of "three places of attention or action: posture, breathing system and looking place. These three are very important for yoga practice, and cover three levels of purification: the body, nervous system and mind. They are always performed in conjunction with each other" ("Ashtanga Yoga").

To know Ashtanga Yoga, it must be tasted through practice. As Patthabi Jois said: "Yoga is 99% Practice and 1% Theory".

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga uses props such as blocks, blankets, straps and bolsters to support the body in poses that open as we relax or rest in the pose.  This allows gravity to do the work for us. Restorative poses are generally held longer than a pose during an active yoga practice. 

Restorative Yoga brings a place of peace, allowing the experience of joy in the pose, thus allowing the pose to sustain up to 10 minutes. Restorative Yoga provides the body an opportunity to renew and heal.

Pilates Mat Plus

Pilates is a physical fitness system, a concept that focuses training exercises in the quality of movement and precision in execution, integrating body and mind to work in concentration and conscious breathing. 

There are many body benefits from practicing Pilates Mat plus; such as achieving a stylized, harmonious, agile and resilient body.  Strength, muscle tone and flexibility (in particular: abdomen, buttocks, thighs and arms) can be achieved.  The ability to increase breath capacity, elasticity and joint mobility are to follow.  Being able to correct posture, relieve stress, reduce back and neck pain is also achievable.  And then an increased concentration, balance and physical and mental wellbeing is obtained.

Yogalates

Yogalates is a comprehensive system of highly effective exercises which comes from the fusion of Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Pilates Mat.  The direct result is an intense, challenging, vigorous, fun and energetic sustained pace.

The mind is alert and focuses not only on the execution of the physical movements but coordinated with proper breathing will help to discover new reserves of energy, vitality and stamina.  In Yogalates, the benefits of Yoga and Pilates have the potential to help in the reduction of excess weight, stimulates metabolism, molding a strong body that is flexible and streamlined and helps develop self-esteem with a cheerful spirit.
